it is a pretty long beach with medium and large pebbles and partly sand, mainly at south eastern side. It is the seaport of Koumeika village that’s why has a small mole. In the region there are several accommodations and restaurants.

The name becam from the Turkish word “şeytan” that means diavolo, and this because the canyon “Kakoperato” that exists behind the beach, causes strange sounds when it is windy, so the Turks (who used to anchor there during the 19th century) thought that there was the devil, and gave this name to the region. Continuing for another 2 Km of walking will arrive to Megalo Seitani Beach

The peculiar beach is surrounded by green slopes of “Kakoperato” canyon, where nature lovers can explore. Walking along the beach, at the end, you find the church of St. Nicholas which is hanging on the edge of a rock. It is integrated into the protection network Natura 2000 because hosts seal Monachus – Monachus. The beach is ideal for those who love camping, and respecting the virgin landscape. A night in the peacefulness of nature can not be compared with any luxury hotel.

is of the most famous beaches of Samos. The beach is surrounded by many pines creating thus a attractive picture, while the golden sand and shallow water make it appealing for swimming and child-friendly. At the east of the beach is a quite big cave for much shade and coolness.

Is a quiet picturesque beach, “hidden” from the busy surroundings. On the back, there is a natural wall (precipice), 20 m height, which protects from the air. Walking west of the beach, you will come across other smaller beaches, whose size and quality (sandy beach, pebbles, rocks), depends of the last winter weathers.

Metochi of Agios Ioannis Eleimonas (Greek Άγιος Ιωάννης Ελεήμονας = Saint John a merciful) was founded in 1867 or 1869 by monk Isidoro Kyriakopoulo from Marathokampo village.

It is simple and small Monastery, located on the northern slopes of Kerki mountain. Ιt is unknown when it was founded, probably the 19th century or later.

he monastery of “Megali Panagia” (Greek Μεγάλη Παναγιά = Great Virgin Mary) or “pende ospition” (=five houses) founded in 1586 by the monks Nilus and Dionysos, who had become a monks in mount “Latros” near ancient Miletus in middle east.

The monk Nile, after six years stay in the Megali Panagia monastery, in 1592 came in this region and built a new chapel in honor of the Holy Cross, in the same place where they found homonym icon.

The history of the cave begins from the ancient times, since there are indications that in the cave lived the Samian Sibyl “Phyto” (Sibyl where a women in trance who prophesied the future). In the Byzantine years and then the same cave was used as a sacred place of Christianity and as a place of asceticism.

The monastery of Zoodochou Pigis (Greek Ζωοδόχου πηγής = Life Giving Source) or Ailiotissa (Greek Αηλιώτισσα) was founded in 1756 by the monk Dorotheus.

The “Genoan Castle” or “Kastraki of Panagia Potamiou” (as it is known to locals) it’s a small fortress built by the Genoans at 13th century or later.

Only one column is still standing today, preserved up to half of its original height, while the foundations are preserved up to the base of the walls and the stylobate. Began construction of the temple in 540 BC by “Rhoikos” sons, Theodore and Teleklis. The temple was never completed because of Polycrates death in 522 BC.

The exhibits and audiovisual equipment, show the everyday life during the Byzantine period, the history of the castle, the action of Lykourgos Logothetis, the fortress architecture in the Aegean and Samos and more.

The museum is housed in an old tannery stone building and reflects the history of tanning industry in Karlovasi town, which culminated from the middle of 19th century till middle of 20th.

It’s mostly full of finds from the Heraion of Samos site (more about the Heraion in a following post) and contains collections with Archaic Sculpture, Pottery, Bronzes, Ivory objects, Wooden items, Clay figurines, Small objects.

The green slopes of Ampelos mountain (or Karvounis) that reach the sea, the view to the sea till Asia Minor, create a scene that is a key feature of the village.

It’s built on downhill ground with beautiful view to the sea. Its houses are close to its other, separated by narrow maze streets, a characteristic more intense than any other Samian village, which gives a very beautiful picturesque character.

Originally built as settlement by residents of Mytilinii village, early 19th century, over the old Christian settlement ruins.

Platanos is located at the center of the island. Lying at the west foot of “Ambelos” (or Karvounis) mountain, 11 km distance, south from Karlovasi, with excellent north, south, west views to Aegean sea and to the island of Samos.

They say that no two sunsets are ever the same. Whether it’s the colors, the clouds, or the scenery each one has something unique about it. That’s why one time it’s not enough to visit Drakei, to enjoy of the most beautiful sunset from 300 m high.

Is of the most developed touristic area of Samos island, with excellent infrastructure, because of the natural beauties, numerous and beautiful beaches and calmness that has to offer.

Pythagoreio is built on the ruins of the ancient city of Samos, capital of the island and one of the most famous Greek cities of antiquity. It is built on the lower part of the old city which was built amphitheatrically, around the harbor.

Leka village It’s built in a green landscape with outstanding northeast views to Aegean sea till Asia Minor coasts and Karlovasi town lying ahead.

Karlovasi is in the northwestern part of the island, which is built above on an homonymous plain. It is the second largest city of the island and the commercial center of western Samos which has a major port serving the western part of the island.
