“Fotonisos” Photographic Team of Kontakeika village at Samos, hosts the photographer and professor of photography Alex Papaioannou.

Alex Papaioannou will give a speech titled “Trends and currents that influenced the photographic art” and will present his photographic work to the public.

The event will take place on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the Library of the University of the Aegean in Karlovasi, at 7 pm.
Entrance is free to the public.

Prior to the main event, from 6 pm, Alex Papaioannou will be at the library area to discuss the work of island photographers.

He was born in Greece, but from his youth he lived, studied and worked in Sweden.

He studied Social Anthropology, Photography, Informatics and History of Art at the University of Uppsala and Visual Communication at the Konstfack School of Fine Arts in Stockholm.

He taught Photography, Informatics and Digital Media for many years in parts of the above Universities and in private schools.

He has participated in workshops, photographic seminars and workshops in Greece and abroad.

His works have been exhibited in individual and group exhibitions as well as photographic events in Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, ​​Amsterdam, Athens and Thessaloniki.

He is represented by his works from his solo exhibition “Sandbilder 1992” at Uppsala’s Modern Art Museum Konstmuseum.

Since the summer of 2017 he lives and works permanently in Greece.

Recently presend his personal exhibition “Forgotten Negatives 1978-1988” in Athens, a collection of analog negative images combined with mixed digital media, referring to self-portraits, emotions, issues of everyday life and self-criticism.
