For the 12th time the Cultural Association of Koumeika organizes the “Onion feast ” at Balos Settlement (or Ormos Koumeikon) of Koumeika village.
You will have the opportunity to taste many recipes with onions, plenty of wine and joy with the music group of Kyriakos Mavrikis

Few words about history
At the plain of Velanidia (west of Koumeika village), besides wheat, large quantities of onions were cultivated, which were also exported to other islands.
Every August, small and big boats arrive at this beach, in order to be supplied with the onions known for their sweetness.
