Beach Description
Balos beach or Ormos Koumeikon (Greek Όρμος Κουμαιίκων = bay of Koumeika) it is a pretty long beach with medium and large pebbles and partly sand, mainly at south eastern side. It is the seaport of Koumeika village that’s why has a small mole. In the region there are several accommodations and restaurants.
The name Balos (in Greek Μπάλος) comes from the Greek traditional island dance Balos, which be danced by couples, a man and a woman, face to face.
The etymology of the name Balos comes from the Latin word “ballo” that means dance, which comes from the ancient Greek word “valezo” (in greek Βαλλίζω) that means shake, dance.
