It’s comfortable and quiet beach without waves. Half of the beach is organized with sun beds and umbrellas for rent of the beach bars, while the other half retains its natural character. The name Kukunara, comes from the nickname of a fisherman who used to cast his net around this beach, at the period of 40s 60s.
Around 1,200 exhibits covering a chronological period stretching from 1870 to 1955 and combine elements of rural and urban folklore.
it is one of the largest and most popular organised beaches of the island, with medium size pebbles and crystal clear waters. The great length of the beach gives you the opportunity to choose whether to sit at the sun beds and umbrellas, by choosing among the many beach bar, or to isolate at the east or west of the beach, to be more natural away from the crowds. The beach is organized, mostly at the middle, where “comes” the road from the town of Samos and Pythagoreion.
The monastery of Zoodochou Pigis (Greek Ζωοδόχου πηγής = Life Giving Source) or Ailiotissa (Greek Αηλιώτισσα) was founded in 1756 by the monk Dorotheus.
It is a sandy, small, picturesque beach with crystal clear turquoise waters and an exotic character. Located in the small island “Samiopoula” (surface 1 Km2), south of Samos and is accessible only by boat. Almost daily, organized excursions by boat from the port of Pythagorion to the beach.
